ONScripter Engine
These are the global defaults used by every classic ONScripter/NScripter game. Any game can override them individually from its own Game Settings screen by turning off Use Global Settings — these values are just what a game falls back to when it hasn’t.
Most changes here take effect the next time you launch a game. A few — noted below — apply live to a game you already have open.
Text Language
Section titled “Text Language”| Setting | Text Language |
| Options | Automatic, English, Japanese |
| Default | Automatic |
The language Sakura expects the game’s dialogue text to be written in. Automatic sniffs each game’s script at launch to detect its language, rather than assuming one up front.
Menu Language
Section titled “Menu Language”| Setting | Menu Language |
| Options | Automatic, English, Japanese |
| Default | Automatic |
Same options as Text Language, applied to the engine’s own menu text.
Render Scale
Section titled “Render Scale”| Setting | Render Scale |
| Options | 1x, 2x, 3x |
| Default | 1x (native) |
Renders the game at a supersampled resolution before scaling down, which can sharpen fine detail on higher-resolution devices. Takes effect at the game’s next launch only — it isn’t adjustable mid-session.
Upscale Filter
Section titled “Upscale Filter”| Setting | Upscale Filter |
| Options | Smooth, xBRZ, Sharp |
| Default | Smooth |
Controls how the game’s low-resolution art is scaled up to fill the screen. xBRZ suits pixel art in particular. This setting applies live — change it while a game is running and you’ll see the difference immediately, no relaunch needed.
Sharpen (CAS)
Section titled “Sharpen (CAS)”| Setting | Sharpen (CAS) |
| Default | 0% (off) |
| Range | 0% – 100%, step 5% |
Contrast-adaptive sharpening. Crisps up soft, low-resolution art. Applies live, even to a game already in progress.
Skip Unread Text
Section titled “Skip Unread Text”| Setting | Skip Unread Text |
| Default | Off |
Skip fast-forwards through unread text too, not just text you’ve already seen.
Rollback (Rewind)
Section titled “Rollback (Rewind)”| Setting | Rollback (Rewind) |
| Default | On |
Enables the rewind/rollback feature. Turning this off hides Rollback Depth below.
Rollback Depth
Section titled “Rollback Depth”| Setting | Rollback Depth |
| Default | 0 |
| Range | 0 – 100 |
How many steps of history the engine keeps for rollback. 0 means the engine’s own default depth, rather than a specific number set by Sakura.
Automode Time
Section titled “Automode Time”| Setting | Automode Time |
| Default | 5000 ms |
| Range | 0 – 20000 ms, step 500 ms |
The delay before auto-advancing to the next line while automode is on. 0 shows as “Default” and defers to the engine’s own timing (about 1 second).
Audio Buffer
Section titled “Audio Buffer”| Setting | Audio Buffer |
| Default | 8 KB |
| Range | 1 – 64 KB |
Larger buffers reduce audio glitches; smaller ones cut latency.
Font Library
Section titled “Font Library”A nav link at the bottom of this section opens the Font Library — a shared pool of imported fonts you can assign to any game from its own Game Font picker.
